Abstract

The purpose of the study is to examine the effectiveness of upskilling initiatives in enhancing employee skill sets and to analyze their influence on career progression in select IT organizations. The study focuses on understanding how workforce skill renewal through structured upskilling contributes to promotion outcomes. It seeks to establish a clear linkage between upskilling dimensions and employee advancement in the IT sector. The study adopts a quantitative research design and collects primary data from 145 professional-level employees working in select IT organizations in Hyderabad. A convenient sampling technique is used, considering employees who have participated in formal upskilling programs. Neural networking and regression analysis are employed as statistical tools to examine complex relationships and assess the impact of upskilling on employee promotion. The findings reveal that managerial support, learning methods, and technical skill enhancement significantly influence workforce skill renewal. Technical skill enhancement and managerial support emerge as the strongest predictors of employee promotion, followed by training relevance and learning motivation. The results confirm that effective upskilling initiatives substantially improve promotion prospects in IT organizations. The study concludes that upskilling initiatives are a strategic driver of workforce skill renewal and career progression in IT organizations. Aligning upskilling programs with managerial support and promotion frameworks enhances their effectiveness. For organizations, structured upskilling strengthens internal talent pipelines and competitiveness. For employees, continuous upskilling improves technical competence, visibility, and readiness for higher-level roles.
